The Lightsey Society was created by in 2006 to assist the foundation in advancing its efforts to enhance the quality of higher education in South Carolina. The Lightsey Society is named in honor of the late Dr. Harry M. Lightsey, Jr., who, with his incredible accomplishments on behalf of higher education, exemplifies standards for future leaders to uphold. All Lightsey Society proceeds are used by SCHEF to improve the higher education environment in our state and to develop innovative programs and initiatives that positively impact higher education.
